It is a moth. I have some photos of one (not posted here...or anywhere...lol). They are larger than a person's hand. I just saw some at a butterfly garden near me; looked at their brochure, but this one is not pictured or otherwise identified. Woops...I just thought to Google 'huge moth' and discovered it is an 'atlas moth.' en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlas_moth
