Maxisms
My 8 year old son and I were at a kid’s birthday party at a roller rink a few months ago. The lights dimmed and the disco ball started reflecting colors to the tune of “Pump It.” Max turned to me and whispered, “I like the Black Eyed Peas and all, but I sure wish they’d play some Green Day or Ramones at these places.” Classic Max. God, I love that kid.
On the way out of the party, he and I were debating who was cooler. I told him that my nose was pierced and I have a tattoo so I would always be cooler (don’t get your panties in a bunch, I was just kidding…we can debate tattoos and piercing at a later date). He looked me straight in the eye and said with geniune pity, “Oh, mom, those things just aren’t cool anymore. Sorry.”
